Australia/New Zealand Wines

We tend to think of Australia as the older traditional winemaking country compared to New Zealand.  However there is only a 30 year gap in the historical timelines of the two country.  Australia’s wine industry goes back to 1788 with New Zealands wine industry getting started in 1819.  In modern times Australia hit the world scene in the 1980’s producing big, jammy, spicy Shiraz while New Zealand received worldwide praise in the 1990’s for its breathtaking, crisp, fresh Sauvignon Blanc.  While these two wines are what they are famous for, both countries produce a large variety of other styles and are still learning their various terroirs.  Continue to expect great things from these two countries as they evolve
